ČSOB Push Payment: online payment card acceptance which does not require payment gateway integration

What is Push Payment by ČSOB?

Push Payment is an addition to the ČSOB Payment Gateway that allows businesses to accept online card payments directly, bypassing the traditional payment gateway integration process. With this service, retailers enter payment details in the application and generate a unique payment link, which they then send to customers. By opening the link, customers are redirected to the ČSOB Payment Gateway. After successful payment, the link becomes inactive.

Which situations is Push Payment designed for? There is a wide range of possible applications:

• issuing invoices or advance invoices,
• if you need to charge customers from your call centre,
• if you need to accept payments from your clients for making additional changes to purchase orders,
• if you do not have your own e-shop, and many others. 

Advantages of ČSOB Push Payment

Payments using a link are appreciated by both merchants and their customers. For example, if you place a QR code on your invoice for a customer, you can be sure that they will not make a mistake, which can otherwise be the case when they enter payment details manually. Also, there is no risk of duplicated payments. In addition, payments are executed instantly.

If you do not run your own e-shop and your customers place orders by phone or email, with Push Payments there is no need to worry about the integration of a payment gateway into your website. You just create links to your payment gateway for your customers, which allows them to pay for goods or services instantly and easily. 

How to set up a Push Payment 

You can create a payment link in POS Merchant – even if you do not have a payment gateway implemented. Under Transactions, select Payment Gateways, then click Create Push Payment. 

Before generating the first payment, you can check the general settings that will be used for all future payments, such as currency, language, logo, payment validity in days (up to 60 days) or the URL to which users will be redirected from the payment gateway after a successful transaction. Next, for each payment, you can enter a description of the items ordered, the amount, purchase order number for pairing, and any additional data where needed.

The app will then generate a unique payment link with a six-digit code. This link can be shared with your customer by email, text or as a QR code printed on the invoice. The customer can only pay once using a link generated this way. 

How are payments made?

After opening the payment link, customers are automatically redirected to the payment gateway, where they can pay the amount using any of the payment methods offered. After the successful completion of the payment, the customers are redirected back to the website selected when the payment link was created. 

If you are setting up a payment in Merchant zone (POS Merchant), you can also choose to pay without returning to the e-shop. This is useful if you do not have any system integrated into your payment gateway and there is nowhere to “return” to. If this is the case, you will need to check the completed transactions in ČSOB POS Merchant manually.

Payment links are no longer active after payments are made, so there is no risk of duplication. If a payment is rejected, the link continues to be active until its expiry. 

How do you activate Push Payments?

First, make sure you meet the conditions for activating Push Payments. You need to have an active website that meets all the statutory requirements for a traditional e-shop (e.g. contact details, terms and conditions, including GDPR, etc.). In order to activate the service, simply write to akceptacekaret@csob.cz or contact your banker for the signing of a contract. 

Push Payments are not subject to any extra charge; the fees are the same as when customers are redirected to a payment gateway from an e-shop.
